Life's Work

Needed the reminder in the midst of the crazy and dismissive. Have thought the following for many years. My age is making it more immediate. Fierce.

Since my first breath, I have been considered so. Youth allows for that. Physical appeal allows for that. Curiosity is essential. Never had the cash; youth is gone and with it a body with well-earned milage. Appeal is fleeting and if my wits remain, believe I will die wondering what’s next.

I chose my direction at eighteen and stayed true on that path. Grateful for my education, life’s experiences, and the observed world. If I were to win the lottery tomorrow, I’d continue my work — with healthcare, joyful intensity, and once again able to be fierce upfront. Wealth allows for that. Privilege is a safety net, inherited.
